Thank you for visiting my website.

I am a candidate in the 2011 election for IEEE President and this website is to provide information about me and what I can offer as IEEE's leader.

I am a microwave engineer with 35 years experience. Just retired as Dean of Engineering at the University of Leeds, U.K., I have contributed to academia and industry. My professional career has included working in industry and teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as supervision of PhD students, many of whom now hold senior positions in industry and universities across the world.

I am Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (the UK's national academy) and an IEEE Fellow.

I have been an IEEE volunteer for over 25 years and have contributed to Technical Activities and Publications. I provided the leadership that resulted in IEEE Xplore® and established IEEE pre-eminence in electronic publishing.

I believe that people, technology and social responsibility are the heart of IEEE and are the key to fulfilling its mission.

Thank you for taking the time to visit this site. I believe in IEEE as a professional community and welcome your comments and suggestions. Please contact me at .

Please note that, to avoid any risk of infringment of IEEE election rules, I have not and will not send any unsolicited mass e-mails.

Please participate in the IEEE annual election. You will find full information at the IEEE election website and can vote using an electronic ballot.

Speeches (opening and closing) given at IEEE Sections Congress 2011 on 22 August.
